Winslow's remarks echo fans' frustration

Cleveland Browns
09/21/2006 8:22 AM
The Dayton Daily News reports should TE Kellen Winslow II have popped off so quickly, after only two games? Probably not. Did he sum up seven years of frustration for Browns fans in a couple of sentences Monday when he called the team's play-calling too conservative? Definitely. What is it with this team and offensive coordinators? Why can't the next rising genius ever turn up on a Cleveland sideline? 09/19/2006 7:36 AM
The Detroit Free Press reports pressed by reporters at his Monday news conference, HC Rod Marinelli explained why WR Mike Williams was not in uniform for the Lions' first two games. Williams, the 10th pick of the 2005 draft, has made progress recently, but he still hasn't reached the standards the coaches have set and won't play until he does. "He did get better last week," Marinelli said. "We'll go on from there." Asked if Williams was better but just not where he needs to be yet, Marinelli said: "Right." Read more
