The Pats ran all over the Bills and Jets in their first two games before hitting a wall against the Broncos. They were held to 50 yards on 21 carries last week and saw their season average dip from 165 yards per game to 126.7. Cincinnati Bengals 09/30/2006 9:59 AMThe Dayton Daily News reports it took almost nine months, but WR Chad Johnson finally admitted to throwing a temper tantrum in the locker room at halftime of the Cincinnati Bengals' 31-17 playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Jan. 8. Johnson called a news conference two days after the game and repeatedly said, "Nothing happened." But in a one-on-one interview with Sports Illustrated writer Michael Silver, posted Friday afternoon, Johnson said he "went off," but did not scuffle with HC Marvin Lewis. Jacksonville Jaguars 09/29/2006 8:33 AMThe Florida Times-Union reports the Jaguars upgraded DT Marcus Stroud (ankle) and OG Chris Naeole (knee) from questionable to probable on the latest injury report while adding RB Maurice Drew (ankle). Drew missed a small portion of the team's individual drills at practice.Read more
Washington Redskins 09/29/2006 8:29 AMThe Washington Post reports although he missed his second straight practice because of an injured left elbow, QB Mark Brunell threw for a while and is scheduled to practice today. CB Shawn Springs, meantime, will miss a fourth straight game with a groin/abdominal problem after visiting a specialist Wednesday. Brunell is still listed as probable for the Washington Redskins' game Sunday against Jacksonville, his former team, while Springs's recovery from a groin strain could keep him out two weeks.Read more
