Washington Redskins 10/17/2006 8:53 AMThe Washington Post reports the chants began in the second half Sunday and spread throughout FedEx Field as the Washington Redskins limped to another defeat. The cries of "Ja-son Camp-bell" accompanied many of starting QB Mark Brunell's incomplete passes in a 25-22 loss to Tennessee. But HC Joe Gibbs said yesterday that Brunell will remain the starter Sunday at Indianapolis, further delaying the regular season debut of the 24-year-old Campbell. Should the Redskins lose to the undefeated Colts, they would enter the bye week with the slimmest of playoff hopes and have plenty of time to go with a new passer at midseason. But Gibbs maintains there is no timetable for Campbell to play.Read more
Atlanta Falcons 10/17/2006 8:49 AMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Falcons DT Rod Coleman, the inside anchor on the front line, is having his injured toe examined. "There are doing a scan on Rod Coleman's toe," Falcons HC Jim Mora said Monday. "Just to see what that is. Hopefully, it's nothing serious." Coleman injured the toe against the Giants Sunday, came out of the game in the second half, but later returned. The loss of Coleman would be devastating to the defense, which already has limited use of DE John Abraham (groin) and DE Patrick Kerney (hamstring). With all three out in the second half, the Giants mauled the defensive front on their way to 259 yards rushing, including 152 in the second half. Abraham returned after missing the previous three games. He was limited to 20 plays against the Giants. "The game was good because I got to play," Abraham said.Read more
Baltimore Ravens 10/17/2006 8:40 AMThe Baltimore Sun reports still looking "groggy" at the Ravens' headquarters yesterday, QB Steve McNair is expected to recover from head and neck injuries by the time the Ravens return from their bye week. And when McNair suits up again, it will be as the Ravens' starting quarterback. Answering a question that would have seemed absurd a few weeks ago, HC Brian Billick dismissed any notion of a quarterback controversy at yesterday's news conference, making it clear that the team's prized acquisition this offseason, McNair, is not in danger of losing his job to the team's long-criticized former first-round pick, QB Kyle Boller.Read more
