Atlanta Falcons 03/08/2008 9:24 AMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons moved to beef up their depleted defensive line Friday, signing three players, including former Carolina DT Kindal Moorehead. Atlanta also added DT Rashad Moore, who has spent time with the Seahawks, Jets and Patriots. Simon Fraser, a 300-pound defensive end in Cleveland's 3-4 front the past two seasons, also was signed and could be moved to defensive tackle in the Falcons' 4-3 front.Read more
Arizona Cardinals 03/08/2008 9:17 AMThe Arizona Republic reports WR Larry Fitzgerald says he doesn't want to leave Arizona. The Cardinals say they don't want him to go. That, however, is an awful small plot of common ground in negotiations between two sides that seem to agree on little else. The restructuring of Fitzgerald's contract appears no closer to fruition than it was a month ago, and the rumblings of frustration are growing within the organization. Without a contract agreement, a day of reckoning is coming for the Cardinals. They are going to face the prospect of trading Fitzgerald or losing him a year from now, when they might have to cut him rather than pay his 2009 salary of $17.4 million.Read more
Seattle Seahawks 03/08/2008 9:09 AMThe Seattle Times reports the Seahawks agreed to terms with free-agent RB Julius Jones on Friday night, according to a report on the NFL Web site. It is Seattle's latest step in rebuilding its running game. It is also the most dramatic. Chicago Bears 03/07/2008 10:07 PMAP reports WR Brandon Lloyd signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears Friday. Lloyd played for Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner at Illinois and said that was a big factor in his decision to sign with the Bears. A fourth-round draft pick by San Francisco in 2003, he has 130 receptions for 1,889 yards and 13 touchdowns. Lloyd's colorful personality rubbed some 49ers veterans the wrong way, and the team dealt him to Washington before the 2006 season. The Redskins signed him to a long-term contract that included $10 million in guaranteed money, but he fell out of favor because of his work ethic and poor production.Read more
