Pittsburgh Steelers
03/12/2008 4:11 PM
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Steelers might not have enough money under the salary cap to sign free agents, but they keep parading them through their South Side facility. Outside LB Keyaron Fox, an unrestricted free agent who played the past four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, is the latest player to meet with the coaching staff. He was at the Steelers' offices yesterday, looking for a new team after Chiefs coach Herman Edwards promised to overhaul the Kansas City roster after a 4-12 season. Read more

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports less than two weeks ago, the Rams declined to make a tender offer to restricted free agent S Jerome Carter, thereby freeing him to sign with any team — no strings attached. But in a move to bolster the Rams’ depth at safety, Carter has re-signed with the team. Contract details weren’t immediately available. Carter was a fourth-round pick by the Rams in 2005. Falcons re-sign QB Joey Harrington

Atlanta Falcons
03/12/2008 4:01 PM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports with QB Joey Harrington signing a two-year contract with the Falcons on Tuesday — a week after he was cut by Atlanta — the quarterback situation looks like it did heading into training camp last summer after the NFL suspended starter Michael Vick. QB Chris Redman, a minimum-salaried free agent who wasn't expected to make the final roster last season after being out of football for more than a year, could have the early track at the starting job. He finished the 2007 season with momentum and the confidence of his teammates, playing well over the final four games, and was rewarded Feb. 29 with a two-year, $4 million contract. Read more

St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports once the question was posed, the Rams official laughed for a good 20 seconds, then told a reporter: "If that were the case, we might have to line you up at wide receiver." Rumors swirl like March wind this time of year. But the WR Torry Holt trade rumors — to Philadelphia or Cincinnati, take your pick — are simply hot air, according to coach Scott Linehan. Linehan says the Rams aren't shopping their star wide receiver. "There's no interest, no discussions about trading Torry Holt," Linehan said. "He's on our team, we want him on our team, and I hope he feels the same way." Read more
