Utecht is a fourth-year NFL player in 2008, a restricted free agent from the Indianapolis Colts, and the Colts will have the option of retaining him if they match the Cincinnati offer within seven days. Should the Colts decline to match, Utecht will join Cincinnati. A signing by the Bengals will not require the Bengals to compensate Indianapolis with a future draft choice, because Utecht entered the NFL as a college free agent and was not tendered by the Colts beyond draft-status level.Read more
Houston Texans 03/14/2008 3:54 PMThe Houston Texans reports the Texans secured their fourth free agent today, Cleveland outside LB Chaun Thompson. He signed a two-year contract worth $2.4 million, including a $650,000 signing bonus. Thompson, who turns 28 in May, joins CB Jacques Reeves (Dallas), RB Chris Brown (Tennessee) and LB Kevin Bentley (Seattle) as unrestricted free agents who have signed with the Texans.Read more
Baltimore Ravens 03/14/2008 3:49 PMThe Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens signed free agent CB Frank Walker to a two-year agreement today. Walker, 26, was a dime back last season for the Green Bay Packers and previously played four seasons with the New York Giants (2003-06). He is expected to compete for the team's third corner spot behind starters Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle, according to the Ravens.Read more
New York Jets 03/14/2008 3:44 PMThe Star-Ledger reports the on-again, off-again trade talks involving the Jets undersized NT Dewayne Robertson are apparently back on again and this time the possible suitor is the Denver Broncos. On Wednesday, the two teams had extensive discussions about a deal, but those talks came to a sudden halt when Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist was stunningly fired that night, according to someone with knowledge of the discussions. That person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he's not authorized to speak about a potential deal. The Broncos, however, are believed to be still interested. Detroit is also in the mix.Read more
