Saints sign OL Lehr

The Times-Picayune reports the Saints signed unrestricted free-agent center/guard Matt Lehr to a one-year contract, his agent said Wednesday. Lehr, entering his eighth NFL season, considered an offer from the Denver Broncos before deciding to come to New Orleans, where he could compete for a starting spot with C Jonathan Goodwin to replace the departed Jeff Faine. Kalu back for third season with Texans

The Houston Chronicle reports the Texans have agreed to terms with DE N.D. Kalu, 32. He will return for his third season with the Texans and his 13th season in the NFL. "I'm really looking forward to it because I think this is the year we get over the hump and get into the playoffs," Kalu said. "And I know that my time in this league is short, and to be with the Texans and help them reach their first playoffs would be something really special." Read more

Wiegmann to decide today

The Denver Post reports OL Casey Wiegmann knows what the Broncos are about after completing his visit Wednesday. He has the Broncos' contract proposal in hand and swimming in his mind. Now Wiegmann is headed back home to Overland Park, Kan., where he is going to talk about his next career move with his fiancee and give the Broncos his answer in the morning. If Wiegmann does sign with the Broncos, C Tom Nalen and left OG Ben Hamilton would again have competition, three days after the team traded backup Chris Myers to the Houston Texans in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Edwards says Chiefs are just being diligent about Ryan

As the only head coach at the campus workout of QB Matt Ryan and his Boston College teammates, Edwards created a stir by his mere presence on Tuesday.
