Miami Dolphins 04/22/2008 2:48 PMNFL.com wire reports after weeks of speculation, the Miami Dolphins made their intentions with the top pick in the NFL Draft known.The Dolphins signed former Michigan OT Jake Long on Tuesday, making him the top overall pick in Saturday's NFL Draft. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the contract is valued at $57.5 million over five years, including $30 million in guaranteed money. Seattle Seahawks 04/22/2008 10:46 AMThe Seattle Times reports Seahawks DT Rocky Bernard spent all day and night in jail after being arrested early Monday morning for investigation of domestic violence, Seattle police confirmed. According to the city attorney's office, Bernard will have an intake hearing at 10 a.m. today, but has not had a date set for his first court appearance. Bernard was being held without bail. According to the police report, the victim — an ex-girlfriend of Bernard's who is also the mother of his child — was with a friend at the Ibiza Dinner Club on Second Avenue in Seattle early Monday morning, when she saw Bernard arguing with another woman. "The suspect [Bernard] walked toward the victim and punched her one time with a closed fist, striking her forehead, causing her forehead to hit a glass divider," an officer wrote in the report.Read more
Philadelphia Eagles 04/22/2008 10:37 AMThe Trenton Times reports with 11 picks in hand and two-time Pro Bowl CB Lito Sheppard on the trading block, the Eagles' war room at the NovaCare Complex for this weekend's NFL Draft may be more akin to an auction house. "There are guys we'd be willing to trade up for," Eagles general manager Tom Heckert admitted yesterday. "We've talked to a bunch of teams about all kinds of different things -- moving up (from No. 19) and possibly even giving some of them away for next year's picks. We've also talked about moving down. With all these picks, you hope to get some players out of it. Now, are 11 guys going to make our team? Probably not. And whether we keep all of those picks, I don't know, either."
