Washington Redskins
05/07/2008 9:51 PM
The Washington Post reports WR Antwaan Randle El underwent arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday and is expected to return for the Washington Redskins' second session of organized team activities that start in June, according to Coach Jim Zorn. Randle El, who missed the first organized team activity of the offseason Monday because of his right knee, had what Zorn described as a "fairly minor" procedure to remove floating cartilage. If there are no complications, Randle El should be fully recovered in a few weeks, Zorn said. The last of this week's three OTAs, which are closed to the public, will be held today at Redskins Park. The OTAs, of which 11 are scheduled, resume June 2 and Randle El could take part in those final eight. Read more

He lost his confidence during a rocky stay with the Redskins and said last season that mental hurdle was his biggest obstacle. It was a precipitous fall for a player whose contract with the Redskins was the richest ever for a safety at the time. Read more

The Star-Ledger reports there are hundreds of players around the NFL who believe they are treated as business commodities, not people. Right now, OL David Diehl probably doesn't feel that way. That's because the Giants recently gave their left tackle a new six-year contract despite the fact he had four years remaining on his existing deal. Diehl's agent, Peter Schaffer, confirmed the new deal yesterday but did not provide financial terms, though someone familiar with the terms of the contract said it's worth $31 million and runs through the 2013 season. 05/06/2008 4:53 PM
AP reports WR Chris Henry was in court for a pretrial hearing Tuesday, and the judge ruled that the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver can travel for tryouts with other NFL teams. Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Richard Bernat ruled that Henry be released from electronic monitoring and house arrest to travel for tryouts with other teams. Bernat had denied the request until Tuesday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. Read more
