Springs strains groin

The Washington Post reports CB Shawn Springs was on the practice field for the first time since he underwent abdominal surgery on Aug. 14, but his return was short-lived. The cornerback pulled up suddenly while running backward during individual drills and left the field with a mild groin strain. Read more

The Palm Beach Post reports Dolphins HC Nick Saban became frustrated Wednesday when he was repeatedly asked about QB Daunte Culpepper's struggles. Saban said he believes Culpepper would have thrown an 80-yard touchdown pass to WR Chris Chambers against Buffalo had he not been hit in the back when he was throwing the ball. "I think you all need to come in and watch the film," Saban told reporters. "You (would) have a totally different perspective of what's happening." When asked by a reporter when that could happen, Saban quickly said. "I ain't going to watch it with you." Read more

The Baltimore Sun reports more than a third of the Ravens' starting defense missed a portion of yesterday's practice. Middle LB Ray Lewis (neck), LB Adalius Thomas (foot), CB Samari Rolle (foot) and DT Haloti Ngata (back) are listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Also, running backs Jamal Lewis (thigh) and Musa Smith (knee), OT Jonathan Ogden (knee) and DT Aubrayo Franklin (thigh) are questionable. Read more
