The Dayton Daily News reports Cincinnati Bengals HC Marvin Lewis has mixed emotions about Raymond James Stadium now. This is where he won a Super Bowl ring as defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, who clobbered the New York Giants, 34-7, in Super Bowl XXXV on Jan. 28, 2001. This also is where his Bengals crumbled down the stretch in a 14-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Asked to pinpoint the cause of his club's two-game losing streak, Lewis didn't hesitate. "Our inability to run the football consistently," he said. "That's the biggest thing. We've had some good runs up in there, but consistently we're not getting on (defenders). We're not knocking them off the football. We're not doing a good enough job." Read more

The Dayton Daily News reports week after week, Jacksonville Jaguars rookie RB Maurice Jones-Drew has put up impressive numbers. Yet the 5-foot-7, 210-pound locomotive finds himself in the shadows of rookie counterparts New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush and New England Patriots RB Laurence Maroney, who appear to be fan favorites, in the race for NFL Rookie of the Year. There are a lot of people who believe the Rookie of the Year award is nothing more than a popularity contest, and I for one tend to agree. Each week the voting for the Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week has continued to support this theory. Read more

Brown hobbled by ankle

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports nagging soreness in CB Fakhir Brown's right ankle is hobbling the Rams' plans for Sunday's game at Green Bay. On Friday, Brown was downgraded to questionable from probable on the injury report. That means Brown's chance of suiting up vs. the Packers is 50-50. Read more
