Don't expect a trade

The Houston Chronicle reports the NFL trading deadline is 3 p.m. today. Though the Texans could use a running back and an offensive lineman, they probably won't make any deals because they don't want to part with draft choices. The Texans aren't interested in Tennessee RB Chris Brown, who wants to be traded. Other backs who are available require too high a price — a first-day draft choice. Read more

Drew misses practice

The Florida Times-Union reports RB Maurice Drew, who missed last Thursday's practice, was sidelined again Monday with an undisclosed injury. He said he's fine and will practice Wednesday. Read more

Stokley out, Sanders iffy for Colts

The Indianapolis Star reports the Indianapolis Colts returned to the practice field for a light workout Monday afternoon, but their three-day weekend apparently wasn't the cure-all for their injury issues. Although K Adam Vinatieri is optimistic his strained groin has sufficiently healed to allow him to handle the kicking duties when the Colts host the Washington Redskins on Sunday, WR Brandon Stokley won't play and the availability of Pro Bowl S Bob Sanders won't be known until later in the week. RB Perry could be healthy enough to play

The Dayton Daily News reports there's help on the way for the Bengals' anemic offense. Cincinnati RB Chris Perry, confined to the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list all season with left knee and ankle problems, "has a chance to be cleared for action on Wednesday," HC Marvin Lewis said. The club needs Perry's running ability to complement starter Rudi Johnson. Perry also is an accomplished receiver out of the backfield who will help jump-start the passing game. Read more
