Hartwell returns to Falcons' lineup

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons made two lineup changes Wednesday — one to solidify their defense, one out of necessity — heading into Sunday's game with defending NFL champion Pittsburgh. LB Ed Hartwell, whose anticipated impact to the Falcons defense has been derailed by injuries over the past year, will start at middle linebacker against the Steelers at the Georgia Dome. OG Tyson Clabo, a two-year veteran relegated mainly to the practice squad, will make his NFL debut at left guard. Read more

Maddox to start

The Houston Chronicle reports DT Anthony Maddox, who was a fourth-round pick by Jacksonville in 2004, is going to start Sunday against his former team. Maddox, who played in seven games in his two seasons at Jacksonville, is replacing the injured Seth Payne. Read more

Colts banged up

The Indianapolis Star reports twenty-one Colts are on the mid-week injury report, all questionable. WR Brandon Stokley (knee) won't play, while the status of S Bob Sanders (knee) won't be determined until Friday at the earliest. Sanders has not practiced since undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee three weeks ago. Sanders ran Wednesday and has another session with the training staff today. Read more

Steussie to start for Rams

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports veteran OT Todd Steussie had not been a full-time regular since 2003, and the Rams signed him to a one-year deal April 17 mainly to add depth to their offensive line. But when two starters from last season — OG Claude Terrell (wrist) and C Andy McCollum (knee) — suffered season-ending injuries, Steussie became a starter again. Read more
