Carthon resigns as offensive coordinator

The Cleveland Browns have accepted the resignation of offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon, the club announced this morning.  Carthon was originally hired by the Browns on Feb. 13, 2005, and had served as the club’s offensive coordinator the last two seasons.  Carthon, who played eight seasons in the NFL, also had 13 years of NFL coaching experience and had previously served as offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys (2003-04) and Detroit Lions (2002). Manning hopes to avoid suspension

The Chicago Sun-Times reports court documents from CB Ricky Manning Jr.'s appearance last month in Los Angeles are the last thing the league is waiting on to make a determination on his status. The Bears cornerback could be suspended by the NFL for the assault he pled no contest to, but he is hoping that will be avoided after a trip to New York last Wednesday to meet with the league and hash out the exact details of the Denny's run-in. He was told that by making the rare appearance before a punishment is handed down that he helped his cause. Read more

Warrants issued for LB Reynolds

The Nashville Tennessean reports Titans LB Robert Reynolds is wanted by Ohio police in an alleged domestic-violence incident over the weekend. Sgt. Jon Wilhelm of the Upper Arlington Police Department said Monday night the warrants are for Reynolds’ arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, assault and criminal damaging involving Reynolds’ former wife. “The warrants are still active,’’ Wilhelm said. “We don’t know where he is at right now.’’ Read more

Lundy earns more playing time

The Houston Chronicle reports the best thing about the 27-7 victory over Jacksonville was rookie RB Wali Lundy rushing for 93 of the team's 131 yards. The Texans entered the game ranked last in the NFL in rushing with an average of 67 yards a game. "I don't get too caught up in the starter thing, but he's definitely going to play (more)," HC Gary Kubiak said. "He stepped up and played well. "As well as he played, I can show him where he left about 60 yards out there." Read more
