The Florida Times-Union reports Jaguars WR Matt Jones returned to practice on Wednesday, but his availability for Sunday's game at the Philadelphia Eagles remains in question. The Baltimore Sun reports in his first full practice of the week, Ravens QB Steve McNair dropped back yesterday and threw pass after pass without any hint of difficulty. There was no hesitation. There was no confusion. And there was no longer a question mark. Passing his biggest real test since suffering a concussion and a sprained neck 11 days ago, McNair said he would start in Sunday's game at the New Orleans Saints. "I think today was a key," McNair said in his first interview since being sandwiched by two Carolina Panthers defenders. "It's fair to say I'm happy and ready to go." Read more

Sauerbrun skips evaluation with Lions

The Detroit Free Press reports three-time Pro Bowl P Todd Sauerbrun missed his flight from Tampa and did not take part in a scheduled workout with the Lions on Wednesday. Lions HC Rod Marinelli said the team is not looking to replace P Nick Harris and was only interested in evaluating Sauerbrun, as teams often do with free-agent players on the market. David Canter, Sauerbrun's agent, confirmed in a phone interview that the Lions said they are not interested in making a change, so Sauerbrun will not visit the Lions. Read more
