Moss Misses Practice Again

The Washington Post reports WR Santana Moss missed his fourth consecutive practice yesterday, signaling that the Washington Redskins' most important receiving option may be unavailable for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Moss missed both practices before the Redskins' bye week and has not participated in either practice this week with a sore left hamstring. He did not want to provide details on his status, preferring to let his appearance on the field -- or his non-appearance -- speak for itself. Read more

Lions move Bailey to outside LB

The Detroit Free Press reports early in training camp, Lions HC Rod Marinelli said Boss Bailey was the prototypical middle linebacker for the defensive system he brought from Tampa Bay. Lean and swift at 6-feet-3, 235 pounds, Bailey could run well enough to take away the middle of the field or make a play on either sideline. Bailey called moving from the outside to the middle "my dream." He said he "always envied the middle guys" because they got "the best of both worlds." Read more

Vikings are slow to sign 2007 free agents

The Pioneer Press reports after proactively signing left OT Bryant McKinnie to a long-term contract in September, the Vikings have been relatively hands-off with several other 2007 free agents, notably linebackers E.J. Henderson and Napoleon Harris. But if the Vikings want to make a move, they should act quickly. With $4 million in room, the Vikings have until Monday afternoon to increase a player's 2006 salary to count against this year's cap. Anything done after Monday will be treated as a signing bonus and prorated over the course of the deal. Read more

Bush ready to go

The Times-Picayune reports Saints rookie RB Reggie Bush sat out the bulk of Wednesday's practice because of his sprained left ankle, but he proclaimed himself ready to get back into full-scale action, perhaps as early as today. "It's fine; I could have practiced today, but I guess the trainers felt we should give it a day's rest, no rush," Bush said. "That's the only reason I didn't practice today. I could have practiced."
