Sanders likely out again

AP reports the Indianapolis Colts may have to stop New England's strong running game without S Bob Sanders. The Pro Bowl safety missed the Nov. 3 practice after his surgically repaired right knee stiffened, the second straight week he's had a setback. Sanders practiced Oct. 25, but returned the next day with a swollen, sore knee that forced him to miss the rest of the week and the Denver game. He could be facing a similar scenario this week since coach Tony Dungy said it was doubtful Sanders would play. "Stiff, tight, that's what we expected," a dejected Sanders said. "I've just got to get on a schedule where I practice enough that I can play." Read more

Browns lockup Cribbs with six-year contract

ClevelandBrowns.com reports he Cleveland Browns have signed WR/KR Joshua Cribbs to a six-year contract extension, the club announced today.  Cribbs, who currently ranks third in the NFL with a 27.7 kickoff return average, has established himself as a legitimate threat on special teams and has expanded his role as a wide receiver in the Browns offense. The Florida Times-Union reports just one day after QB Byron Leftwich was listed as probable and appeared ready to return, Jaguars HC Jack Del Rio told the quarterback Thursday that he won't start this weekend against the Tennessee Titans. That clears the way for QB David Garrard, who took all the snaps in practice Thursday, to make his second consecutive start, although he wasn't officially told he had the job. Read more
