Taylor not likely to start Sunday

The Post-Gazette reports CB Ike Taylor may go from shutdown cornerback to sitdown cornerback this week. Steelers HC Bill Cowher suggested Tuesday that he may make lineup changes, and demoting Taylor is a big one. Signed in September to a five-year, $22.5 million contract, Taylor was told he likely will not start at left cornerback when the Steelers play New Orleans in Heinz Field Sunday. Read more

Brown, Horn still recovering

The Times-Picayune reports Saints OT Jammal Brown returned to practice Wednesday after missing last Sunday's game with a sprained ankle. WR Joe Horn, however, missed most of Wednesday's practice while still recovering from a groin injury. Both players are listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh, though Saints HC Sean Payton described Brown as recovering faster than Horn. Read more

Lewis, Reed sit out practice

The Baltimore Sun reports middle LB Ray Lewis and FS Ed Reed did not practice yesterday at the Ravens' training facility in Owings Mills and are questionable for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. Lewis injured his back and Reed bruised his leg when the two collided on a fumble return that was eventually overturned during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 26-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Florida Times-Union reports QB Byron Leftwich, who lost his starting quarterback job to David Garrard earlier this week, said Wednesday he believes he can play on his sore ankle, but he doesn't want to create a distraction for the Jaguars. "I want to make sure I clear everything up so when we go into the game Sunday, we're not talking about Byron, we're not talking about Dave, we're talking about the Houston Texans," Leftwich said. "I want the focus of this team to be on football." Read more
