A second-round pick last season, Brown is the third member of that draft class to get a long-term extension from the Eagles in the past eight days. DT Mike Patterson (first round) and DE Trent Cole (fifth round) also signed new deals. Patterson got a five-year extension worth up to $31.3 million, including $9 million in guaranteed money. Seattle Seahawks 11/11/2006 10:18 AMThe Seattle Times reports QB Matt Hasselbeck had hoped to run 16 plays in practice Friday at team headquarters. He ran eight. But the fact the Seahawks quarterback took part in a practice for the first time in three weeks was good news, no matter what he did on the field. Wearing a brace over his sprained right knee, Hasselbeck served as scout-team quarterback in seven-on-seven red-zone drills. He completed 3 of 8 passes, then was finished for the day.Read more
Arizona Cardinals 11/11/2006 10:15 AMThe Arizona Republic reports LB Gerald Hayes will make about $8 million in the first year of the contract extension he signed this week. He received a salary increase of about $3.8 million this year and will receive roughly that amount in a bonus to be paid this spring. He was making $721,600 this year before the extension. The five-year extension is worth about $21 million and includes salaries of $600,000 in 2007, $1.5 million in 2008, $3.4 million in 2009, $3.75 million in 2010 and $4.25 million in 2011.Read more
