New York Giants 11/15/2006 8:27 AMThe Star-Ledger reports the Giants' interest in former Bengals WR Peter Warrick isn't necessarily an indication the team is looking to add a veteran receiver immediately. They simply appear to be exploring all of their options to possibly replace WR Amani Toomer, who is out for the season with a partially torn ACL. Warrick's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed his client worked out for the Giants on Monday. When reached on his cell phone yesterday morning, Rosenhaus said Warrick had already left the area. When asked if he believed a deal was imminent, Rosenhaus said, "No, I don't."Read more
Dallas Cowboys 11/15/2006 8:24 AMThe Star-Telegram reports backup RB Marion Barber out rushed starter Julius Jones for the first time this season, as he carried the running game in the second half. Barber finished with 65 yards on 14 carries and his team-leading seventh touchdown of the season on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter. Jones had 45 yards on 15 carries. Barber carried the bulk of the work with 11 second-half carries for 48 yards. "I think Marion's a kid [who] once you get him going, he's good to go," HC Bill Parcells said. "You've got to get him going. He's got a very good nose for the goal line. He's a really aggressive runner near the goal line. That's very positive."Read more
Washington Redskins 11/15/2006 8:18 AMThe Washington Post reports if Washington Redskins HC Joe Gibbs looked devastated by his benching of QB Mark Brunell in favor of QB Jason Campbell, his players appeared more enthused by the move. They looked at the decision not so much as a repudiation of Brunell but as hope that it can be a catalyst for a season that desperately needs one. As players left RedskinsPark yesterday -- one day after Gibbs announced that Campbell, 24, would make his first NFL start Sunday at TampaBay -- the consensus among them was: It's finally time to see what he can do. Right guard Randy Thomas was home when his wife told him the Campbell switch was on the news. He didn't believe it at first. "I'm pretty excited about it. You have a tough loss, you're sitting at home and all of a sudden you see it flash across the bottom of the TV," Thomas said. "You say, 'Man, that's a big-time move.' But I respect the move, and I think the guys are pretty anxious to protect him and get him his first career win."Read more
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 11/15/2006 8:11 AMThe Tampa Tribune reports Bucs DE Dewayne White becomes a free agent at the end of the season. Before that happens, Tampa Bay's second-round pick in the 2003 draft is putting a lot of plays on film as evidence to why the Bucs should make every attempt to re-sign him. White started in DE Simeon Rice's absence Monday night against the Panthers and had five tackles. He also had a fumble recovery, his third of the season and seventh of his career, which led to the Bucs' only touchdown. With speculation swirling about Rice's future with the team, White continues to make plays whenever he's given the opportunity. He could get more starting assignments if Rice's injured shoulder continues to bother him.Read more
