Indianapolis Colts
11/17/2006 10:02 AM
The Indianapolis Star reports it appears the Colts will be without S Bob Sanders for a second straight game and the seventh time this season. The Pro Bowl safety continues to feel soreness in his right knee and was one of several players who did not practice Thursday. "I'd say it's doubtful he'll play (Sunday at Dallas), but we'll leave the door open a little bit," HC Tony Dungy said. Read more

Bradford back in for Lions

Detroit Lions
11/17/2006 9:54 AM
The Detroit Free Press reports the Lions' receiver-go-round continued Thursday. They released WR Kevin Kasper and re-signed WR Corey Bradford -- whom they cut earlier this season even though it meant they would have to pay him almost $1 million per game. The moves comes a week after offensive coordinator Mike Martz said he was pleased with Kasper and WR Devale Ellis at the third receiver spot. "I think we've resolved the issue," Martz said last Thursday. "I really do." Read more

Winslow a multiple threat for Browns

Cleveland Browns
11/17/2006 9:12 AM
AP reports Jim Brown slowly worked his way around Cleveland's victorious locker room in Atlanta last Sunday, shaking hands and congratulating players on a rare road win for the Browns. "Good game," the Hall of Fame running back told the son of a fellow Hall of Famer. Brown also marveled at a fourth-quarter catch by TE Kellen Winslow, who took the reception and praise in stride. "Thanks," Winslow said. "But I've got a long way to go." He has already come further than many expected. With 56 catches for 561 yards in nine games, Winslow is on pace to destroy Ozzie Newsome's club record of 89 receptions in a season. Newsome, another Hall of Famer, did it in 1983 and 1984. In addition, Winslow, who missed nearly two full seasons with serious knee injuries, could threaten TE Tony Gonzalez's NFL record for catches by a tight end. Gonzalez had 102 receptions in 2004. Washington Redskins
11/15/2006 12:09 PM
AP reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis had surgery Monday on a broken bone in his right hand and is expected to be sidelined three to four weeks. Portis had three screws inserts into the ring finger bone, which was broken late in the first quarter of Sunday's 27-3 loss to Philadelphia. He'll wear a cast for a week to help control swelling, then some kind of splint during the rest of his rehabilitation. Portis conceivably could be done for the year. Read more
