Jacksonville Jaguars 11/17/2006 10:30 AMThe Florida Times-Union reports Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich missed practice Thursday and likely won't attend any of this week's workouts in an attempt to rest his injured left ankle before making a decision on possible surgery. Leftwich traveled Monday to Birmingham, Ala., to receive a second opinion regarding the ankle from orthopedist James Andrews. Leftwich wouldn't comment on results from the visit, but Jaguars HC Jack Del Rio said Andrews advised the quarterback to rest the ankle for another week or two, at which point they will re-evaluate.Read more

Minnesota Vikings 11/17/2006 10:19 AMThe Pioneer Press reports Vikings continued to examine strategies Thursday for replacing FB Tony Richardson in the lineup but held off putting the 12-year veteran on the injured reserve list. Options include using tight ends Richard Owens, Jim Kleinsasser or Jeff Dugan at fullback or signing someone from a limited fullback pool to take Richardson's place. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell remained vague about the replacement and threw TE Jermaine Wiggins and Artose Pinner into the mix as well. Bevell did speak firmly on how difficult it would be for anyone to match the performance of Richardson, who is sidelined with a broken right thumb and forearm.Read more
Dallas Cowboys 11/17/2006 10:17 AMThe Star-Telegram reports Cowboys veteran WR Terry Glenn expects to return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Colts. Glenn practiced for the second consecutive day after missing last week's game because of cartilage irritation under the right kneecap. Glenn said the rest last week helped the recovery and said the pain he had when running and cutting is gone. He is listed on the injury report as probable.Read more
