Carr, Williams ready to go

The Houston Chronicle reports two of the Texans' key players, QB David Carr and DE Mario Williams, were pronounced fit and ready to go after practice Friday. Both will start against Buffalo. Carr has recovered from the sore right shoulder he suffered in the 13-10 victory at Jacksonville. Williams is nursing the foot injury that has hampered his progress. Read more

The Florida Times-Union reports for several weeks, HC Jack Del Rio has mentioned TE Marcedes Lewis' when discussing the club's need to improve in the passing game. Those talks continue this week headed into Monday's game against the Giants. "I've talked about it the last five weeks, this last month I know for sure," Del Rio said. "I'd like to see him more involved. It's been an emphasis point and continues to be an emphasis point. "We're not getting him the ball enough." Macklin replaces Green as starter

The Arizona Republic reports right cornerback has been a problem spot for the Cardinals for years, and this season is no different. CB David Macklin lost the starting job after the first series of the year. CB Eric Green has been benched twice, including last week against Dallas. Macklin, who hadn't played much until last week, returns to the starting lineup Sunday against the Lions, replacing Green. Read more

Hartwell may miss facing former team

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Falcons middle LB Ed Hartwell might not play against his former team as his recovery from knee surgeries possibly will sideline him Sunday at Baltimore. Hartwell returned to practice as a backup this week. He took the past two weeks off after his injured knees limited his mobility and flexibility in starts against Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. Those were the only games in which Hartwell has played this season after having arthroscopic procedures before the season on both knees to remove debris. Read more
