Gore upgraded to probable

The Contra Costa Times reports RB Frank Gore practiced without restrictions for the first time this week Friday, and the 49ers upgraded him to probable for Sunday's game against Seattle. Gore sustained a mild concussion at Detroit last week. He had run for 159 yards, including a team record 148 in the first half. "It felt good to run around like that again," Gore said. "I feel all right. I'm ready to get back in the game and take a hit." TE Vernon Davis also practiced without restriction for the first time since fracturing his right fibula Sept. 24 but remained questionable. HC Mike Nolan said Davis' status would be a game-day decision. Read more

Team plans tribute to Rice on Sunday

The Contra Costa Times reports in his 13 NFL seasons, 49ers DT Bryant Young says he picked up many valuable lessons from being around WR Jerry Rice, the retired receiving great who will be honored Sunday by the 49ers. "A lot of times, when you see a great player like that, you don't see the preparation that goes into what he has to do to get himself ready for games," Young said. "Just being out here on the practice field, watching him work, there's something to be learned from that. I learned just from watching him, his work ethic and how to prepare for a game and how to continue and do it on a consistent basis." Read more

Polamalu good to go

The Post-Gazette reports S Troy Polamalu has not missed a day of practice since sustaining a concussion six days ago and pronounced himself ready to play against the Browns. Polamalu said there was never a question in his mind he would play in Cleveland. "Not even on Monday," Polamalu said. "I feel good. Actually, I feel worse and worse every time you guys ask the question. You make it a bigger deal than it is." Read more

Colts shorthanded for Sunday

The Indianapolis Star reports the Colts likely will be without several players Sunday. Doubtful for the game, according to HC Tony Dungy, are safeties Bob Sanders (knee) and Matt Giordano (calf), WR Brandon Stokley (knee) and LB Gary Brackett (hamstring). None practiced Friday. DT Montae Reagor (head) is the only player officially ruled out. Read more
