Colston's injury restricts game plan

The Times-Picayune reports rookie WR Marques Colston went down on the Saints' third offensive play with what club officials termed "a high ankle sprain." Colston did not return to the field in the second half, receiving treatment on his left ankle instead. He was fitted with a walking boot to keep the foot immobilized. Read more

Packers place Rodgers on IR

NFL.com reports the Green Bay Packers lost a quarterback for the season. It wasn't Brett Favre. QB Aaron Rodgers broke his left foot during the Packers' game against New England and is out for the rest of 2006, Packers HC Mike McCarthy said. Rodgers had replaced Favre, who hurt his elbow earlier in the game. Rodgers will need surgery. He broke his foot scrambling in the third quarter, but played the rest of the game, finishing 4 of 12 for 32 yards. Read more

Berry out for year with muscle tear

NFL.com reports Cardinals DE Bertrand Berry will miss the rest of the season after tearing triceps muscles in his team's victory over Detroit. An MRI exam Nov. 20 revealed the seriousness of the injury, HC Dennis Green said. Berry will undergo surgery to repair the tear, probably this week. "A big loss for us," Green said. "I've always said Bertrand is the No. 1 leader on our team." Read more

McNabb out for season

The Trenton Times reports the Titans ended the season of QB Donovan McNabb in what may prove to be the final nail in a coffin the Giants began constructing for the Birds back on Sept. 17.  McNabb, 30, was taken to Thomas Jefferson Hospital after shredding the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee on a seemingly innocent push by Titans DE Kyle Vanden Bosch two plays into the second quarter. The eight-year veteran of five Pro Bowls will have surgery when the swelling subsides and still is likely to be in recovery mode when the team begins training camp at Lehigh University next July.
