McNabb may have surgery this week

The Trenton Times reports QB Donovan McNabb is still injured, his replacement as the Eagles' starting quarterback is still unknown, the player they have in mind to take his spot on the roster has not been identified, and the reason for CB Rod Hood's sudden demotion on Sunday remains a mystery. Johnson is better

The Kansas City Star reports LB Derrick Johnson is now running on his injured ankle, and if the Chiefs played on Sunday, Johnson is pretty sure he’d play. But the Broncos are in town for Thanksgiving, and Johnson won’t know until Wednesday if he’ll go. Johnson, a starting outside linebacker who is a big part of Kansas City’s pass rush, has been out since injuring his ankle at St. Louis. Johnson said he’s “cool” when he runs, but as of last week, he was still experiencing pain doing agility work. “I haven’t done that yet this week,” Johnson said. Read more

Colston uncertain with ankle sprain

The Times-Picayune reports Saints rookie WR Marques Colston has a sprained left ankle, HC Sean Payton said Monday, and his status for Sunday's game at Atlanta will be better determined Wednesday after two days of rest and treatment. "I don't know yet; it's too early," Colston said Monday when asked if he could play. "It's a little stiff. I've been getting treatment all day. I'm going to get more right now. I've had this before (as a college junior). I was out about a week. I'm not sure about this yet." WR Terrance Copper also has an ankle injury. Payton said the Saints would develop contingencies based on the two receivers' expected availability this week. Read more

'Dirty hit' ends Darius' season

The Florida Times-Union reports injuries continue to mount for the Jaguars defense.

SS Donovin Darius suffered a broken leg in the second quarter Monday night against the Giants and is out for the remainder of the season. Darius is the third defensive starter to suffer a season-ending injury. Read more
