Tampa Bay Buccaneers 11/28/2006 1:37 PMThe Tampa Tribune reports an MRI confirmed what Bucs officials suspected soon after LG Dan Buenning went down with a right knee injury in the fourth quarter against Dallas on Thursday. A torn ACL ended Buenning's season as the Bucs placed him on injured reserve. Sean Mahan, who started four games at left guard this season while Buenning struggled with a high ankle sprain, takes over that spot for the remainder of the season. Buenning will have surgery in Miami this week, then begin the lengthy rehabilitation process.Read more
San Diego Chargers 11/28/2006 1:35 PMThe San Diego Union-Tribune reports OL Scott Mruczkowski was an adequate fill-in at left guard against the Raiders. But among the lessons driven home in Sunday's narrow escape from disaster was that the Chargers' running success is largely dependent on the blocking of OL Kris Dielman. Dielman, who missed his first game with an ankle injury, is expected to be sufficiently healed and play this week at Buffalo. The question is whether he will be in a Chargers uniform after these next five games (plus any playoff contests). Dielman will be an unrestricted free agent following the season, and negotiations on a new contract have stalled.Read more

A team spokesman said James was visiting a sick relative in south Florida. He's expected to return for Wednesday's practice, five days before the 2-9 Cardinals visit the St. Louis Rams. James, the team's prized off-season acquisition, rushed only four times for 15 yards in Sunday's loss. He caught two passes for 10 yards but spent most of Arizona's late comeback watching from the sideline.Read more
Pittsburgh Steelers 11/28/2006 11:30 AMThe Post-Gazette reports the bad news continued along with the losses for the Steelers when WR Hines Ward revealed that he had surgery on his injured knee yesterday. Ward canceled his weekly appearance on KDKA-TV yesterday and told the station he had arthroscopic surgery earlier in the day to remove a bone fragment from his knee. The Super Bowl MVP said he will miss Sunday's game against Tampa Bay in Heinz Field but hopes to return to play the following Thursday night against Cleveland at home. It will be only the second game that Ward will miss in his career; he also missed a game last season because of a hamstring injury.Read more
