Cincinnati Bengals 12/05/2006 8:06 AMThe Dayton Daily News reports the Bengals won't be looking past the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. HC Marvin Lewis won't allow it. "Look past Oakland to who?" Lewis asked. The Monday night game at Indianapolis on Dec. 18. "Oh, I didn't know that's who we played afterward," Lewis said. "We don't have to worry about that. There shouldn't be a letdown. Every time you go out there, you've got an opportunity to lose if you don't play well enough. That's the way it's supposed to be." The 2-10 Raiders have been reduced to playing the spoiler's role. They can ruin the Bengals' playoff hopes with an upset. "We know what's at stake," QB Carson Palmer said. "We've lost to teams we shouldn't have lost to and learned our lesson. This is a team we shouldn't lose to, and we've got to play great football. We need to handle our business. We can't take them lightly."Read more
Cleveland Browns 12/05/2006 8:02 AMThe Dayton Daily News reports the Cleveland Browns succeeded Sunday against Kansas City because they were focused and emotionally ready, players and coaches said. Why can't this happen every week? "Human nature," Browns HC Romeo Crennel said at his Monday press conference. "When you look around the league, you see it happening all the time. To get up every week, to play at the maximum level â that's tough to do." Crennel traced some of the Browns' recent difficultly to the Nov. 19 Pittsburgh loss in which a late lead disappeared: "We put quite a bit into it, and to end up losing that game, that did take something out of us." The following week brought numerous distractions, mainly from the mouth of WR Braylon Edwards. "That also takes something out of you," Crennel said. "Then you play a good team (Cincinnati), and they start rolling, and you're not able to stop them and you've got a demoralizing (30-0) loss. But the guys on this team have some pride, and I didn't think they'd lay another egg."Read more
