Kennedy pleads guilty to drunken driving

AP reports Detroit Lions S Kenoy Kennedy has pleaded guilty to drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop in suburban Detroit. Kennedy, 29, entered the plea Thursday in District Court and told Judge Sylvia A. James that it was his first drunken-driving charge. He faces up to 93 days in jail when sentenced in January, after Detroit's season ends. Kennedy declined to comment as he left court. Read more

Delhomme misses another practice

The Charlotte Observer reports Carolina QB Jake Delhomme sat out his second straight day of practice Thursday, increasing the chances that backup QB Chris Weinke will start Sunday against the New York Giants. Weinke continued to work with the first string as Delhomme rested a right thumb that has ligament damage. Delhomme is listed as questionable, but the Panthers haven't ruled out the possibility he'll play. "We're taking it day to day," HC John Fox said. Read more

Martz: WR Williams 'heavy' by 20 pounds

The Detroit Free Press Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz said Thursday that WR Mike Williams is "somewhere around" 240 pounds. That's 10 pounds heavier than the weight target the Lions set for him in 2005 and 20 pounds heavier than the one they set for him this season. He is playing mostly in the slot these days. "He's awful heavy to line up outside, to line up outside and go one-on-one against the corner in press man," Martz said. "There's a lot of things he can get away with in the zones, but you've got to have a guy out there who can push up the field and get out of stuff. Read more

The Indianapolis Colts wide receiver needs only five catches to become the fourth player in NFL history with 1,000.
