Taylor doubtful to face Lions

NFL.com wire reports Minnesota Vikings RB Chester Taylor's bruised ribs left him doubtful on the injury report and unlikely to play against Detroit. Taylor went through part of practice, but HC Brad Childress said he would need "a sprint to get to this game." RB Ciatrick Fason would probably take over as the featured back if Taylor is out, with RB Mewelde Moore increasing his share of the load and RB Artose Pinner possibly getting some carries. McNeal faces drug charge after arrest

AP reports Cincinnati Bengals rookie WR Reggie McNeal faces a drug charge stemming from his arrest earlier this week outside a Houston nightclub. McNeal, a former Texas A&M quarterback already charged with resisting arrest, had a cigarette that contained an antihistamine that is sometimes used as a sedative, Houston police spokesman Gabe Ortiz said Friday. The misdemeanor charge of possession of a dangerous drug was added Tuesday, two days after McNeal scuffled with police when he was refused entry into The Red Door nightclub, Ortiz said. McNeal is out on bond and scheduled to appear in court next week. Read more

Betts signs extension with Redskins

NFL.com wire reports RB Ladell Betts signed a contract extension with the Washington Redskins, opting to remain in RB Clinton Portis' shadow rather than test free agency after a career-best season. Betts, getting a regular chance to start while Portis is on injured reserve, has rushed for 100 yards in back-to-back games for the first time, including a career-high 155 in last week's loss to Atlanta.
