Cincinnati Bengals 12/09/2006 11:09 AMAP reports Cincinnati Bengals CB Deltha O'Neal was charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday after being stopped at a traffic checkpoint. The two-time Pro Bowl player had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10, above Ohio's legal limit of 0.08, the State Highway Patrol said. O'Neal was alone in his car and arrested at the scene, Sergeant Kevin Long said. O'Neal took a breath test and was released. He is to appear in Clermont County Municipal Court on Dec. 12. The seven-year veteran is the eighth Bengals player arrested this year.Read more
Chicago Bears 12/09/2006 5:50 AMThe Chicago Sun-Times reports we knew the Bears were getting QB Brian Griese ready in the event QB Rex Grossman falters Monday night in St. Louis, and one player revealed Friday the backup is receiving half of the reps in practice. No wonder Griese was so cagey when asked about the subject on Thursday. He sidestepped the situation by saying if HC Lovie Smith wanted the news out, he would share it with the public. It's a sharp change from the way business has been conducted with Griese getting very minimal work and second-year man QB Kyle Orton handling the bulk of scout-team work.Read more
New York Jets 12/09/2006 5:46 AMThe Star-Ledger reports rookie QB Kellen Clemens was taught a valuable lesson by HC Eric Mangini and the coaching staff this week. During a team meeting, Mangini asked Clemens if he knew the records of the teams competing with the Jets for the AFC wild-card spots. Clemens began rattling off those team's records -- making the mistake of actually answering the question. "Kellen started to answer and really the right answer was 'It doesn't matter,'" Mangini said. "Because it doesn't really matter. What matters is what we do, how we approach it."Read more
