Cincinnati Bengals 12/18/2006 9:50 AMThe Dayton Daily News reports everyone has been quick to point out that two of the league's finest quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer will face off tonight. However, receiving a little less attention is the elite receiving corps that will take the field in this game. With Marvin Harrison, Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne and an emerging T.J. Houshmandzadeh on hand you would be hard pressed to find a receiving corps of this caliber in any football game.Read more
Cincinnati Bengals 12/12/2006 11:09 AMThe Dayton Daily News reports each Bengals' player arrest â eight so far in 2006 â is like a knife that cuts deeper into a wound. With Cincinnati CB Deltha O'Neal and WR Reggie McNeal due in court today in Clermont County and Harris County, Texas, respectively, Bengals HC Marvin Lewis responded Monday to his players' misdeeds and the bashing he's taking by the national media for having as many victories as players arrested. "I don't care what they say nationally," Lewis said. "I don't think you guys (the local media) attack me because you know what I stand for. Unfortunately, I can't hold (players') hands 24/7, but it is embarrassing. It's an embarrassment to our organization, to our city and to our fans. These things socially are not right. "Hopefully, this is a positive, so our young people who are fans, and professional athletes, understand there are certain things in our society that are unacceptable. It doesn't matter what you do for a living or who you are. You've got to follow those rules and laws. We should feel good around here with what has occurred that our local law enforcement has taken steps to curtail and get people who drink and drive off the road. "Our guys have to understand you cannot drink and drive. You tarnish your image, your reputation, and it doesn't go away easy."Read more
Indianapolis Colts 12/12/2006 10:49 AMThe Indianapolis Star reports WR Brandon Stokley immediately knew it was serious, and so did those watching him. As the Indianapolis Colts wide receiver lay on the field after going down early during the third period Sunday at Jacksonville's Alltel Stadium, he slammed his hand on the turf in pain and frustration. "You've seen it happen to great athletes and you don't know what causes it. I mean, he was just coming off the line and he ruptured his Achilles, I believe," said veteran WR Ricky Proehl, who signed with the Colts as a free agent on Nov. 29. "Very painful. Disappointing. He's worked so hard." HC Tony Dungy confirmed that Stokley, 30, had suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury but offered no update on his status Monday, the day after the Colts' 44-17 loss at Jacksonville.Read more
