A 'record' for Little

St. Louis Rams
12/18/2006 12:55 PM
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports with two sacks Sunday, DE Leonard Little became the Rams' career sack leader with 73. Kind of. He passed Granite City product Kevin Greene, who had 72½ sacks with the Rams from 1985-92. "It's cool," Little said. "But I'd rather win more than anything else. I'm the type of guy that tries to go out and make plays for this team. I guess it's a good accomplishment. I just want to end the year on a good note." Read more

Cardinals WRs struggle

Arizona Cardinals
12/18/2006 12:50 PM
The Arizona Republic reports growing pains are expected when a rookie quarterback is running an offense, but with a set of receivers like the Cardinals have, QB Matt Leinart's development should be akin to a baby teething. The pain is dull and constant but bearable until some ice can soothe it. Instead, it was the Cardinals receivers who were iced Sunday in the first half of their 37-20 loss to Denver at University of Phoenix Stadium. The offense had come together in recent weeks, but ineffectiveness and less than nine minutes of possession led to a mere two completions to wide receivers in the first half. WR Larry Fitzgerald and WR Anquan Boldin, the tandem that combined for more than 200 catches and 2,800 yards last season, were held without a reception in the first half, while WR Bryant Johnson and WR Troy Walters grabbed one each. Who will be No. 3 option?

Indianapolis Colts
12/18/2006 10:27 AM
The Indianapolis Star reports two of QB Peyton Manning's best slot options in the passing game will be missing tonight in the RCA Dome when the Indianapolis Colts quarterback attacks the Cincinnati Bengals' No. 32-ranked pass defense. It remains to be seen if the replacements will be able to step in and adequately complement the outside deep threats of WR Marvin Harrison and WR Reggie Wayne. WR Brandon Stokley is done for the season, felled by a ruptured right Achilles tendon. TE Dallas Clark is out for the foreseeable future as he works his way back from a sprained ligament in his right knee. "Those guys are hard to replace and may not be replaceable,'' Manning said. "I've used this expression before -- it's probably more of an adjustment.'' Read more

Robinson a surprise inactive

Minnesota Vikings
12/18/2006 10:22 AM
The Pioneer Press reports Vikings WR Marcus Robinson, who leads the team with four receiving touchdowns, was inactive against the Jets. Robinson said before the game that he was healthy and that HC Brad Childress made the decision. He declined further comment. But Childress said Robinson had "trouble getting all the way up to speed." "I kept thinking it was coming this week," Childress said. "He had a little hip flexor. Obviously he's a little extra sore; he's a little older. We kept thinking he was going to battle through that. He just couldn't answer the bell." Read more
