The Tampa Tribune reports it will forever be remembered as one of the most miserable seasons in franchise history. Nothing can stop that now. If he can do it, though, Bucs HC Jon Gruden would like to walk away from this train wreck of a campaign on an up note, feeling good about something. That's why on Monday he decided to start Tim Rattay at quarterback for the Bucs' next-to-last game of the season, Sunday at Cleveland. Read more

Drew expected to play Sunday

The Florida Times-Union reports RB Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to play on Sunday against the Patriots, but it's too early to gauge RB Fred Taylor's availability. Drew suffered a knee injury that is less severe than anticipated, while Taylor felt better on Monday than he did the day after aggravating his strained right hamstring against the Colts. Read more

Rucker's injury could keep him out a year

The Charlotte Observer reports Carolina DE Mike Rucker tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee in the first quarter of Sunday's loss against Pittsburgh, Panthers HC John Fox said Monday. "We'll kind of play that by ear moving forward," Fox said. Recovery from such injuries can take anywhere from nine months to a year. Al Wallace is expected to start in Rucker's right defensive end spot for the season's final two games. Read more

OC in line to replace DeBerry

The Houston Chronicle reports Texans offensive coordinator Troy Calhoun interviewed with officials from Air Force on Monday at Reliant Stadium. Calhoun is thought to be the leading candidate to replace Fisher DeBerry, who retired last week after 23 years with the Falcons. Calhoun played quarterback and was a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator under DeBerry. Read more
