Johnson gets one-game suspension

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the Bears did not have to tell DT Tank Johnson he's down to his last chance. He knew it before the team informed him Tuesday that he would be welcome back after a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. Johnson said the ill-fated decision to go clubbing last Friday -- hours after issuing a public apology for being a distraction in the wake of his arrest on six misdemeanor counts of illegal gun possession -- is one he will live with for the rest of his life as it culminated in the shooting death of his best friend, Willie B. Vick-Schaub set scrapped from playbook

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons' double quarterback set is going back to mothballs. Don't expect to see quarterbacks Michael Vick and Matt Schaub on the field at the same time anytime soon, HC Jim Mora said Monday. "We basically did that because we weren't sure how Jerious [Norwood] and Warrick [Dunn] were going to be," Mora said. Schaub played quarterback, and Vick moved to tailback for four plays. On one play, Schaub ended up flanked out as a receiver with Vick at quarterback. The scheme wasn't that successful. The highlight came when the Falcons got a first down after Schaub completed a pass to WR Michael Jenkins for 10 yards in the first quarter. Read more

James on IR; Stevenson signed

The Palm Beach Post reports the Dolphins placed left OG Jeno James on injured reserve, thus ending his season, and signed OG Dan Stevenson off the practice squad Tuesday. The team also waived CB Will Poole, who was on the injured reserve list.?James had been out of the lineup since sustaining a right knee injury against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 12. He returned to practice last week, but was inactive Sunday at Buffalo.?"We felt like he wasn't quite ready, so we didn't activate him for the game," HC Nick Saban said Monday.?Stevenson, 24, was a sixth-round draft choice by New England this year. 5 Ravens named Pro Bowl starters

The Baltimore Sun reports a day after clinching the AFC North, the Ravens received a dose of disappointment: They had only five players named to the Pro Bowl - a list that excludes LB Ray Lewis. OT Jonathan Ogden, S Ed Reed, linebackers Adalius Thomas and Terrell Suggs and CB Chris McAlister were the only Ravens selected for the NFL all-star event. Read more
