Sanders hopes for Miami
Indianapolis Colts12/21/2006 9:20 AM The Indianapolis Star reports the status of S Bob Sanders' troublesome right knee will not be a day-to-day consideration this week. His focus is rehab, not Houston. "I'm going to just keep moving forward, try to get back for the Miami game if I can. If things don't work out that week, just be ready for the playoffs," Sanders said. "That's our plan. That's what the doctors and I and coach (Tony) Dungy talked about. That's what we're shooting for." Sanders has played only two of the Colts' 12 games since undergoing arthroscopic surgery in late September. He has dealt with recurring issues of pain and stiffness. Palmer injured shoulder in loss to Colts
Cincinnati Bengals12/21/2006 8:39 AM The Dayton Daily News reports the four sacks Bengals QB Carson Palmer absorbed in a 34-16 loss at Indianapolis on Monday night bruised more than his ego. They also hurt his right throwing shoulder. But the Bengals on Wednesday denied a report on ProFootballTalk.com that Palmer has a torn rotator cuff. For the first time this season, Palmer's name surfaced on the club's injury report. He's listed as probable for Sunday's game at Denver. The injury is listed as his right shoulder. He did not practice in the club's 11-on-11 drills at Paul Brown Stadium. Read more
Browns can't afford to gamble on Smith
Cleveland Browns12/21/2006 8:35 AM The Dayton Daily News reports when Ohio State QB Troy Smith visited New York recently to pick up his Heisman, he appeared on one of the NFL pregame shows and was given a Cleveland Browns helmet. Considering he's from Cleveland, the Browns will be under a certain amount of pressure to draft Smith. Should they? In the first round? Some are suggesting he could be a top-five overall pick, but opinion is divided. Paul Maguire, a former NFL television commentator who now works college games, has said he doesn't think Smith will make it as a quarterback, mainly due to his height; he's listed at 6-foot-1 but some think that's a mite generous.
