Glenn hopes to return this season

AP reports Dallas Cowboys WR Terry Glenn had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee for the second time in six weeks Thursday. Glenn reinjured his knee last week when he tried to return to practice for the first time since the initial surgery Aug. 1 to remove a cyst. That was a week into training camp. "This gives Terry a chance to play this season," Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said. "He will do everything he can to get on the field this year." Read more

Lewis MRI shows no tear of triceps

ESPN.com reports Baltimore Ravens left OT Jonathan Ogden will almost certainly miss Sunday's game against the New York Jets, and the status of injured QB Steve McNair remained uncertain Wednesday as the team began preparing for its home opener. But middle LB Ray Lewis declared himself ready to go despite injuring his right triceps on the Ravens' opening defensive play Monday night in a 27-20 loss to Cincinnati. An MRI revealed no tear to the main muscle of Lewis' right triceps, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported Wednesday afternoon. Reports after Monday night's game indicated that Lewis had torn one of his triceps muscles. Lewis, asked after the game by ESPN.com's Matt Mosley if his triceps was torn, said: "Yeah, I think it is." Crennel says he'll switch to Quinn if the situation dictates

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Browns HC Romeo Crennel said Wednesday he wouldn't hesitate to put rookie QB Brady Quinn in against the Bengals if starter Derek Anderson struggles. "I think it just depends on how the game goes," said Crennel. "If there's evidence, or I get the feeling that things can be straightened out, you can give the guy a chance. But if things can't get straightened out, then, I think you have to do something quickly." But he said he expects Anderson to perform well. Read more

Lions add RB depth with Cason

AP reports the Detroit Lions signed RB Aveion Cason and cut WR Brandon Middleton on Wednesday. Cason, who was released by Detroit just before the season started, provides needed depth because backup RB T.J. Duckett (ankle) was injured in the win over Oakland and RB Kevin Jones (foot) is slowly working his way back into playing shape. Read more
