Tennessee Titans

AP reports Titans owner Bud Adams said more than a year ago that HC Jeff Fisher wouldn't be going anywhere. On Monday, the NFL's longest-tenured coach with his current team said he hopes to finish his career in Tennessee. Adams picked up the 2007 option on Fisher's contract at the end of last season, and an extension had been expected since then. Fisher said they finally worked out the last details of the four-year extension last week. "Never at any time was I of the opinion it was not going to get done," Fisher said. "What was most important to me was the team and the players and winning games." Read more

Saints place Campbell on IR for season

New Orleans Saints
09/17/2007 12:21 PM
ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli reports the Saints have placed starting TE Mark Campbell, a player whose importance to their offense extends beyond his statistics, on injured reserve for the rest of the season. A ninth-year veteran, Campbell is suffering from an undisclosed disc problem, and rest and epidural injections have not relieved his discomfort. Given the lack of progress, and a strong likelihood Campbell would not be ready to play again anytime soon, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and coach Sean Payton opted to place him on injured reserve. Atlanta Falcons
09/17/2007 9:43 AM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Falcons players are trying to maintain some sense of hope, but just two games into the season tension is simmering. Following a 13-7 loss to host Jacksonville on Sunday, in which QB Joey Harrington was sacked seven times and the kicker missed two field goals, some players were wondering if this season's course has already been steered down a rebuilding path. There is so much work to be done that even with 14 games remaining, time might not be working in the Falcons' favor. The negative trends that have already developed have prompted concern about what this team might be able to accomplish. Said TE Alge Crumpler: "0-2 early is not the place to be. We're going to fix it, as long as we can get through the week without killing each other." The frustration level stems mostly from the fact that the Falcons have scored just 10 points this season — three fewer than the number of sacks they've allowed. Making matters worse, Matt Prater, the kicker the team signed on potential, hasn't been able to clean up the mistakes that have kept Atlanta out of the end zone. Read more

Quinn's chances?

Cleveland Browns
09/14/2007 6:16 PM
The Dayton Daily News reports Browns HC Romeo Crennel said rookie QB Brady Quinn is "only one play away from being in a game" but the play doesn't necessarily have to result in an injury to starter Derek Anderson. "A guy could be dinged up," Crennel said. "Or a guy could be not be performing." Read more
