The NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that Johnson's deal is a two-year contract with various incentives that could boost the value of the deal to up to $1.5 million. Johnson, who played the last three seasons for the Chicago Bears, can't play for the Cowboys until he completes his eight-game NFL suspension for violating probation on a gun charge. New York Giants 09/17/2007 7:54 PMAP reports New York Giants rookie WR Steve Smith probably will miss at least two games with a broken shoulder blade. Smith was hurt in the first quarter of the Giants 35-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers after catching a 10-yard pass. Giants HC Tom Coughlin said the second-round draft choice from Southern California would probably be listed as week-to-week after sitting out games at Washington and home against Philadelphia.Read more

With his winless team producing just one touchdown in two games and allowing 13 quarterback sacks, Petrino says he's "concerned," to say the least. A day after the Falcons lost to Jacksonville, Petrino detailed the litany of offensive shortcomings that he said offset a strong game from the defensive front and overall improvement from a season-opening loss at Minnesota. His most telling remarks surrounded the play of QB Joey Harrington. "Right now Joey's playing a little bit conservative, playing not to throw the interception," Petrino said Monday. "Therefore, it's causing him to hold the ball. He just needs to open it up, play with confidence and play to go win the game."Read more

McNabb unloaded the ball 33 times in his first game since Nov. 19, and RB Brian Westbrook reached the low end of his self-imposed tar get of 20 carries.
