The San Francisco Chronicle reports Pro Bowl DE Derrick Burgess missed a second straight practice with a calf injury, while RB LaMont Jordan took part in most of practice after missing a day with a sore back. C Jeremy Newberry, FB Oren O'Neal and LB Robert Thomas remain out with hamstring injuries. HC Lane Kiffin said they all will be game-day decisions. Read more

Hilliard said he will play

The Tampa Tribune reports Bucs WR Ike Hilliard said he intends to play on Sunday despite his sprained ankle. He sat out of Friday’s practice to rest his ankle, but considering he is now a starter, Hilliard does not plan to let that opportunity to slip away. He is currently listed as questionable. Read more

Spaeth to sit out against San Fran

The Post-Gazette reports rookie TE Matt Spaeth (quad contusion) did not practice for the third consecutive day and will not play tomorrow against the San Francisco 49ers at Heinz Field. Spaeth, who has two touchdown catches in two games as the No. 2 tight end, will be replaced in some short-yardage situations by tackle-eligible Max Starks. Jerame Tuman will move up as the second tight end behind Heath Miller. Spaeth, a third-round draft choice, is the only player who has been declared out on the team's official injury report. The Pioneer Press reports RB Chester Taylor, who was inactive last week because of a bruised oblique muscle, is questionable and said he should be all right for this game. "I'm looking forward to playing," he said. "Right now, I'm supposed to be playing so I'll take it from there." Read more
