Rudi is listed as 'out' for Monday

The Dayton Daily News reports the Bengals are preparing for life without RB Rudi Johnson — at least for one game. Meanwhile, all indications are OT Levi Jones will start at left offensive tackle against New England on Monday night. Johnson was listed as "out" on Thursday's injury report, meaning he won't play unless his injured hamstring miraculously heals. Read more

Marinelli expects Calvin Johnson

The Detroit Free press reports Lions HC Rod Marinelli thinks WR Calvin Johnson will be able to play Sunday against Chicago, but he isn't sure. "I think Calvin's going to be fine," Marinelli said after practice Thursday. "But I don't want to tell you something, and then it's not true." Johnson, who has a bruised lower back, did some running Thursday. He is scheduled to practice some today. Read more

Taylor still No. 1

The Pioneer Press reports RB Chester Taylor, who has missed the past two games because of a bruised oblique muscle, also practiced on a limited basis.  Like Jackson, his status for Sunday is uncertain, but when Taylor is healthy, Childress said he would return as the starter, ahead of rookie RB Adrian Peterson. Carr looking like Sunday's starter at QB

The Charlotte Observer reports in John Fox's world, where virtually every injury is "day-to-day," QB David Carr moved one day closer to being the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. QB Jake Delhomme sat out Wednesday's practice with a strained right elbow, putting the Panthers one step closer to playing Carr, who finished Sunday's victory in Atlanta after Delhomme was injured.
