The Detroit Free Press reports WR Roy Williams and Bears LB Brian Urlacher had fun going back and forth on the field, just as they did in the media this week. Urlacher almost made an interception in the third quarter. “I told him to get some hands,” Williams said. “Put my hands up. ‘Get some hands.’ He was like, ‘It was tipped! Rivers hears the boos, is frustrated, too

San Diego Chargers
10/01/2007 8:33 AM
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports one pass QB Philip Rivers tried to throw yesterday was going to be an 80-yard touchdown, according to his coach. A pass he did throw that might have been his best of the day was dropped 5 yards from the end zone. He wound up committing three turnovers and, for one of the few times in his young career, was booed by the home fans – individually and with his teammates. The Mercury News reports losing QB Alex Smith to a separated shoulder was the just first sign of trouble for the 49ers. A slew of problems followed, including three turnovers, untimely penalties and a disturbing inability to take advantage of key opportunities, in a 23-3 loss to Seattle on Sunday, the 49ers' latest setback in a measuring-stick-type game. Smith was injured when he was sacked on the game's third play by 308-pound DL Rocky Bernard, who landed on top of Smith and drove the quarterback's throwing shoulder into the turf. HC Mike Nolan said Smith will be evaluated further today; he characterized Smith as doubtful for next Sunday's game against Baltimore. Read more
