Taylor's slow start mirrors team's

The Palm Beach Post reports DE Jason Taylor knows the routine all too well. The losing. The questions from fans and media. The fruitless search for answers. When he dismissed brief thoughts of retirement last January, he hoped to avoid the familiar cycle of another lost season. "I don't want to go through another one," Taylor said this week. "(But) I'm here. I signed up for this. "This is what I love to do. Even though I hate the losing, it's part of it." This season, however, the failure comes with an unexpected twist. For the first time, Taylor and the rest of the defense are a big part of the Dolphins' problems. Miami (0-4) is last in the NFL in run defense and third from the bottom in points allowed. Read more

The Washington Post reports Redskins RB Clinton Portis proclaimed himself healthy enough to play after yesterday's practice, but WR Santana Moss missed practice again because of a groin injury and remains uncertain whether he will be able to play in Washington's game Sunday against Detroit. Boldin, Brown may be out

The Arizona Republic reports Cardinals HC Ken Whisenhunt stopped short Wednesday of saying a player who doesn't practice during the week won't play on Sunday, but made it clear he's not crazy about the idea. Two offensive starters, WR Anquan Boldin and right OT Levi Brown, didn't play Sunday and sat out Wednesday's practice. Boldin's hip injury is improving, as is Brown's ankle, but both are expected to be at least questionable for Sunday's game in St. Louis. Read more

Report: Travis Henry sues NFL in drug-test flap

The Denver Post reports Broncos star RB Travis Henry's NFL future is in legal limbo in New York. According to a report published by Newsday on Thursday night, Henry - the NFL's leading rusher - is suing the league to prevent it from using results of a drug test that could result in him being suspended from the league for a year. It may be a longshot for Henry to win his suit, but it may buy him time if the NFL is to suspend him. A recent test failure before Oct. 1 would be Henry's third, and would result in a one-year suspension without pay from the NFL. Read more
