ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli reports Tampa Bay HC Jon Gruden joked Monday that he thinks he has the phone number for Hall of Fame RB Barry Sanders. But the situation at tailback is hardly a laughing matter for the Bucs, with the loss of RB Michael Pittman to an ankle injury suffered during the team's loss at Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Cardinals to look at 2 veteran QBs

The Arizona Republic reports the Cardinals will bring in 43-year-old QB Vinny Testaverde and QB Tim Rattay for tryouts Tuesday at their Tempe facility as they search for a replacement for injured QB Matt Leinart. With Leinart out indefinitely because of a fractured left collarbone, the Cardinals are in the market for an experienced backup for new starter Kurt Warner. Testaverde, who spent part of last season with the New England Patriots, clearly fits the bill. Read more

Strong ends career after neck injury

The Seattle Times reports FB Mack Strong ended up in the emergency room after returning from Pittsburgh on Sunday night. The trip had nothing to do with the neck injury that caused the Seahawks fullback to call it a career, though. "Actually, my wife had a real bad headache," Strong said. "I had to take her to the emergency room when I got home." Read more

Gandy suffers torn ACL, likely out for season

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Falcons starting left OT Wayne Gandy, a 14-year veteran, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and is likely lost for the season, according to a person close to the situation. Gandy, playing in his 212th game in the NFL, was injured in the fourth quarter of the Falcons 20-13 loss to Tennessee on Sunday. Read more
