Carr misses practice, plans to start Sunday

The Charlotte Observer reports Carolina Panthers QB David Carr, who injured his back Sunday in New Orleans but returned to finish up the victory against the Saints, is now the starter -- as long as his back continues to improve. And he expects to play Sunday in Arizona. Read more

The Pioneer Press reports Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson estimated that he is 90 percent healthy, adding that he's "good enough to play." "It's going to be pretty much like this for the rest of the season," Jackson said, "but I've just got to play through it." But before the afternoon practice Wednesday, Vikings HC Brad Childress wasn't prepared to name Jackson the starter for Sunday's game at Chicago, and he said whether the second-year quarterback plays is "really about being able to burst." Jennings hurting

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports WR Greg Jennings, who only took part in the walk-through, is listed on the injury report because of a shoulder. Jennings missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury and has been limited in practice the past three weeks because of it. Though McCarthy still wants Jennings to take it easy on the hamstring, the shoulder, injured against the Bears, has become more of a problem. "His shoulder is a pretty good injury," HC Mike McCarthy said. "We're going to shoot for Friday anyway. Talking to Dr. (Patrick) McKenzie, he's more worried about the shoulder than the hamstring. You talk to Greg, he feels like he's going to be fine. We'll see how he goes Friday." Read more
