The Palm Beach Post reports LB Joey Porter ended his war of words with Cleveland TE Kellen Winslow when Winslow refused to take open shots at Porter. "He's saying all the right things," Porter conceded. "Unlike me, I'm the type of player who says how I feel, but at the same time, we are looking for our first win, so obviously, the personal battle, he turned that down." Porter has used the tactic to try to fire himself up for games in the past, and HC Cam Cameron said Friday it's a matter of not letting the talk get out of control. Read more

Rudi listed as probable for K.C. game

The Dayton Daily News reports the Bengals got some good news on Friday. Cincinnati RB Rudi Johnson had full participation in practice and was upgraded to probable for Sunday's game at Kansas City. Johnson played in 64 straight games until a hamstring strain, suffered at Seattle, caused him to be deactivated against New England in Week 4. He had an early listing of questionable against the Chiefs, but he's healthy enough to answer the 1 o'clock bell at Arrowhead Stadium. Read more

AP reports Jaguars RB Fred Taylor missed practice Friday because of a groin injury and was listed as questionable for Jacksonville's game Sunday against Houston. Read more

Jones 'ready to go'

The Houston Chronicle reports the Texans saw some progress from WR Jacoby Jones, who was more involved in practice Thursday. HC Gary Kubiak said Jones is on target to return to the field this week, along with RB Ahman Green. Jones has missed his last two starts with a separated shoulder, which he suffered on a 74-yard punt return against Indianapolis. Barring any setbacks, Kubiak said Jones will come off the bench as a receiver and return punts. Read more
