More roster shakeups likely

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the release of veteran NT Grady Jackson last week stirred emotions in the Falcons' locker room, and it sent a message to anyone paying attention: Things are changing. Some will take the emotionally charged warning shot as a sign that more turnover is forthcoming. Others might translate coach Bobby Petrino's decision to mean that the Falcons can't remain static after a 1-6 start. With nine games remaining — a docket that could hardly be viewed as a murderers' row — there could be a shift in philosophy and personnel turnover in an attempt to win games and form a nucleus for future seasons. Lemon struggles in rain

The Palm Beach Post reports QB Cleo Lemon may not have many more starts in him, given the way the 0-8 Dolphins plan to evaluate what's left of a lost season. Sunday's rainy conditions certainly didn't do him any favors in trying to delay the debut of rookie QB John Beck. Lost in Lemon's respectable stat line against the New York Giants - 17-of-30 for 149 passing yards and a late touchdown to WR Ted Ginn Jr. - are some serious mistakes caused in part by a slippery ball. Houshmandzadeh says, 'It's frustrating'

The Dayton Daily News reports Cincinnati Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh is slowly becoming the heart and soul of the Bengals' offense, scoring the team's lone touchdown in a 24-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Houshmandzadeh finished the game with seven catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. After the game the receiver talked about the team's frustration of not being able to find the end zone on offense as often as they would like. Read more

Wright staying home
