Childress shows no interest in QB George

The Pioneer Press reports former Vikings QB Jeff George shrugged off a swipe from coach Brad Childress on Wednesday and insisted he still could help an NFL club. During his news conference Wednesday, Childress was asked about George's interest in his club and his thoughts on players who may be on the downside of their careers. "Probably maybe go to a fantasy camp or something like that," Childress said. "Downside would probably be - I think - kind." George was taken aback by Childress' comment. Read more

Madison returns

The Post-Gazette reports CB Anthony Madison played almost too well last year for him to make a team this year after the Steelers released him with the rest of their final cuts Sept. 1. Because he played 13 games as an undrafted rookie in 2006, Madison was not eligible for any team's practice squad. Read more

McAlister misses Ravens practice

The Baltimore Sun reports for the second consecutive day, CB Chris McAlister was absent from the portion of practice open to the media at the Ravens training facility in Owings Mills today. McAlister, who missed the team's last game against the Buffalo Bills with a strained knee, had said that he hoped to be ready to play in Monday night's divisional showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Crumpler uncertain of when he'll return

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports TE Alge Crumpler just wants to get well. His injured knee and ankle caused him to be declared inactive for the Falcons' previous game and threatens to hold him back from Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers at the Georgia Dome. Read more
