Packers intend to keep Lee

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the Green Bay Packers have begun contract negotiations with representatives for TE Donald Lee that they hope will lock him up for years to come. Lee, one of the most improved players on the roster, is the only starter among the seven players due to become unrestricted free agents in March. "They contacted my agent," Lee said Friday. "I told them just get me a fair deal and I'll be happy. I'm not big on material things. I told them I don't want to know numbers and what's going on. I don't want to focus on that." Read more

Faine out again

The Times-Picayune reports the Saints will be without starting C Jeff Faine for the second consecutive week because of a strained left pectoral muscle, and C Jonathan Goodwin will start in his place Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Superdome. Faine missed practice all week and was deemed "out" on the official injury report Friday. Read more

Morris grounded

The Boston Herald reports signed as an unrestricted free agent during the offseason, RB Sammy Morris came in and provided a spark to the running game. Now, the Patriots will be without him the rest of the season after he was placed on injured reserve yesterday. Morris suffered a chest injury during a 49-28 win at Dallas in Week 6, hurting a joint where the sternum meets the clavicle. He hasn’t played a snap since. Read more

The Washington Post reports LB Marcus Washington sat out practice after aggravating his lingering hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for tomorrow's game against the New York Jets. Washington, who returned to the lineup last week against New England after missing two games because of hamstring problems, participated in full drills Wednesday and Thursday. The former Pro Bowler expected to join the Redskins yesterday as they finalized plans for their third road game in four weeks, but his hamstring wouldn't cooperate again. Read more
