Ailing Alexander sits out

Seattle Seahawks
11/13/2007 10:44 AM
The Seattle Times reports Seahawks backup RB Maurice Morris did some good things in his first start of the season, replacing injured RB Shaun Alexander. Morris ran for 87 yards and scored on a 6-yard touchdown run, the first scoring run for the Seahawks in seven games. But he averaged just 3.1 yards per carry. Still, Morris did his part in helping a pass-first offense have some balance Monday night, and at the end of the game, the Seahawks had such a comfortable lead that they could pound the ball and improve Morris' stat line. San Francisco 49ers

But he said Nolan was consumed with managing the game and didn't really respond. Read more

Jacksonville Jaguars
11/13/2007 10:38 AM
The Florida Times-Union reports the Jaguars might be getting their quarterback and kicker back in their stretch run for a playoff berth. QB David Garrard, who missed the last three games with a high ankle sprain, and K Josh Scobee, who hasn't kicked since the opener, when he strained his quad in pregame warmups, both might be ready to play Sunday. "I'm almost positive [about playing] if we don't have any setbacks during the week or anything," Garrard said. "I think it'll be full speed ahead." Read more
